Provence Rosé

Provence rosé stands out for its pale colour, delicate body, and fresh, dry style. It’s typically made with local grape varieties and crafted to highlight crisp acidity, subtle fruit flavours, and elegance. The Mediterranean climate and limestone-rich soils also contribute to its distinctive, refined profile.

Rosé wine is best served chilled, typically between 8 °C and 12 °C (46 °F–54 °F), to showcase its fresh, aromatic qualities. In practice, for Provence rosés like Berne Inspiration, Romance or Ultimate Provence, the ideal tasting temperature is around 10 °C, and the winery recommends chilling by placing the bottle in a bucket filled with ice and water for optimal tasting.

Provence rosé is most commonly dry, with fresh acidity and subtle fruit flavours. However, some producers craft off-dry or slightly sweeter styles. While dryness is the regional hallmark, a touch of softness or roundness can sometimes be found.

Most Provence rosés are made to be enjoyed young — within one to three years of bottling. These wines are crafted for their freshness, delicate fruit, and pale colour, all of which tend to fade with time. Unlike red wines, rosé doesn’t have enough tannins or structure to support long ageing. Oxidation can dull its aromas and shift its colour from bright pink to orange or copper. While a few premium rosés with more body and complexity may evolve well for a few years, ageing is the exception, not the rule.
